Christy and Mark Kidd are the authors of the new memoir, A MODERN MARRIAGE, about their experience as a happily married couple in the world of swinging. So perhaps it’s no surprise that Christy’s choices are some classics from the romance shelf?
I maintain a list of books on my “To-Read” list and depending on my mood, I randomly select a couple of books per month. However, I actually haven’t picked up a book in several months and am a bit behind on my list, but now that I have a little more time I had to get “caught up” on one of my favorite authors, J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts. I’m currently reading Concealed in Death. I’ve read all of the “In Death” series, which focuses around the main character, Lieutenant Eve Dallas and is set in a futuristic New York City. Police are still solving crimes and of course murder, although more hi-tech and complicated in the year 2060ish. Lt. Dallas is a strong character, pretty badass and she cleans the crime off the streets in New York City. She is married to a handsome, extremely wealthy Irishman who used to be on the wrong side of the law. I have always been drawn to mysteries and “Who Done It” books, even going back to my younger years when I was hooked on Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden novels. I would read these books over and over, hoping to eventually be transformed into a super-sleuth!
I really love fiction, something not too serious to take my mind off the real world and live through the fantasies and imaginations of the characters.
I am also a huge fan of Anne Rice with her infamous Vampire Lestat, as well as Laurell K. Hamilton and her brave and sexy zombie raiser/vampire hunter, Anita Blake – who doesn’t like vampires and shape shifters??!!
