You know what I love?

A good cliche!

Opposites attract is one of my favorites – watching two people who initially don’t quite get along slowly discover one another’s that one another’s imperfections are actually what makes them the most lovable? Sign. Me. UP.

Right now we’re in love with Carter and Eve in Dating You / Hating You by fan favorite author Christina Lauren, but here are some of our other favorite couples through time.

Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Darcy – Pride and Prejudice

Alright, so this couple is definitely the reason you clicked on this list. And to be honest, we don’t blame you. Classic story: two English stunners walk into a room, diametrically opposed, foes. They emerge with the most perfect love, having opened doors that were previously closed! Love these two, and will love them forever.

Jo and Professor Bhaer – Little Women

Okay, okay! I know it broke all of our hearts the first time we read Little Women and Jo didn’t end up with Laurie. But now? I, at least, have a soft spot for Jo and her professor. Jo is fiery and fearless to Bhaer’s stoicism with a side of brooding. But though on a surface level they’re different as can be, they eventually suit each other perfectly!  Intellectually matched, ambitious, honest, and mature – their love is sweet and supportive, even though they’re very different people.

Princess Leia and Han Solo – Star Wars

Now I’ve kept it literary so far, but no one can expect me to exclude this intergalactic love story.

Princess. Smuggler. Need I say more?

Benedick and Beatrice – Much Ado about Nothing

And to round it off with another classic: good old Benedick and Beatrice. Shakespeare at his funniest, and Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh at their British-est. Nobody throws better shade than two people secretly in love.
