I remember when I was 8, me and my father was in the kitchen he was making himself coffee and me tea, I wanted coffee but I couldn’t have any because of my age. He told me if I put creamer in my tea it’s just as good as coffee, so I did just what he said and haven’t stopped since, thanks to the French bakerys with chai lattes, I make my own at home. Lol

I was about 16, and I begged my dad to let me pull his truck through the gates. When I did, I hit one of the gates with his side view mirror, and bent the gate. I went in and told my mother, she told me to tell my dad. I went out and told him what I had done. He helped me fix it, and told me that when I break something, or ‘mess up’ in general, that I would have to own up to it, and fix my mess.

I remember when my dad took me to see Star Wars at the local theater. I felt so special going with just my Dad and I!

I remember when my dad took me to NYC for my 16th birthday so I could see my first Broadway musical. He and my mom saved up for a long time for that trip. Growing up we had enough money to make it but not a lot to spend on nice clothes or vacations like this. So trips like these were extra special to my sister and me. She went to Chicago for her trip 3 years later.

  5. One of my favorite memories is skipping school to go to Philadelphia with my dad…he would do his work and then take me to the best meal in Chinatown-I can still taste the dishes in my mind!

  6. My dad and I would go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Yes, the busiest shopping day of the year!! Never stopped us. He would sit in the middle of the mall and watch all the people go by. I would go shopping. When I moved down the mall he would change benches. Needless to say, he didn’t get much Christmas shopping done!

My father and I haven’t spoken in about 6 years. Before that happened, my father-in-law (at that point just my new boyfriend’s dad) took me in like the daughter he never had. At our wedding last year, after my mother walked me down the aisle and after the ceremony, everyone came over to hug us. He’s this real sports-lovin’ tough firefighter, but he had tears in his eyes as he hugged me and welcomed me (officially) to the family. I’ve never had someone be a father to me like he has.

P.S. He’s so tough I don’t think my husband or brother-in-law believed me when I said he had tears in his eyes. 🙂

  9. Dancing at my wedding… it was the first time we danced… 🙂
