Second chances can come along in many forms. They can be welcome opportunities to begin anew, or real challenges that individuals must face, overcome, and see the good in to make the most of. In L.E. Bross’s latest Pocket Star book, THE DO-OVER, the two main characters Mel and Eli are both faced with second chances that could give them a fresh start at a new life–if they’re smart enough to open their eyes and see what’s in front of them. Keep reading below for a piece by L.E. on what makes a ‘do-over’, and don’t forget to download a copy of the book today, now available from Pocket Star!
When the air finally warms up after a long, cold winter, it’s almost like Mother Nature is giving us a do over. We get to start fresh; new. The possibilities are endless and then we have a hot fun summer to look forward to to celebrate all those changes.
In The Do-Over, Mel and Eli have both come out of a long hard winter. Mel was more like pushed into her Spring, but it gives her the chance to stop and take a look around, figure out where she is and where she wants to be. Sometimes when we come out of a long cold winter, we realize that who we are isn’t who we should be. Spring, the season of renewing, is the perfect time to make a change. Shed all those dead layers and start to discover what you really want.
Eli already made his changes and has accepted that his life wasn’t going to be what he had planned. In a way, Mel is his Spring and she crawls under his comfortable flannel jacket and makes him see that indeed, summer is coming and he has the chance to shed his own layers and embrace the possibility that maybe his dreams aren’t really gone.
It all might be a little cliché, and the season references a bit obscure, but when you really think about it, change can come at any time, in any place. If things aren’t working out and you’re not where you want to be, then maybe you need to embrace your own Spring and shed those layers and take a chance that maybe, this could be your very own Do Over. And hey, it worked for Mel and Eli so you just never know what’s waiting for you! <3
