Ten Reasons I’d Like to Spend My Vacation as a Lady in Fictional Regency England

New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries has spring break on her mind—but it’s not quite the spring break you and I were thinking of. Instead of heading to the beach or going sightseeing for a week, she’s been thinking of spending it in a castle! While daydreaming what it would be like to be royal, Sabrina came up with her list of top 10 reasons she’d like to be referred to as Lady Jeffries for a week! And don’t forget to tell us in the comments below why you’d like a title for your chance to win the first two books in Sabrina’s bestselling Sinful Suitor series!

I write historical romances to escape into a glamorous life in my head. But what if I could do it for real? While I certainly wouldn’t want to live in the past (no antibiotics? No thank you), I wouldn’t mind vacationing there a la Austenland.

Ten Reasons I’d Like to Spend My Vacation as a Lady in Fictional Regency England:

  1. Amazing clothes. Even the corsets would be cool for a while.
  2. Dancing, dancing, dancing! There’s never enough dancing in my life.
  3. Live-in cooks. I get tired of cooking for my picky foodie husband, who doesn’t cook.
  4. No internet. Yes, I said it. Sometimes I actually want a break from being online.
  5. Horseback riding. The last time I rode was on my honeymoon. And I’ve been married 32 years.
  6. Fancy carriages. It’s like being Cinderella at the ball ALL THE TIME.
  7. Potential for nooky. Those romance heroes like their nooky.
  8. Lady’s maids. Someone will make my hair pretty EVERY DAY.
  9. A pretty castle I don’t have to clean. I don’t think I have to explain that one.
  10. Hot guys in boots and cravats. Enough said.

How would you want to spend a week as a lady (none of us wants to spend it as a servant, naturally) in fictional Regency England? Tell us what your favorite part would be in the comments below and enter for your chance to win a copy of the brand-new THE STUDY OF SEDUCTION and the first book in the Sinful Suitors series, THE ART OF SINNING!

  1. I couldn’t pick just one. But, the castle is probably what I would like the most, with fancy carriages coming in second.

  2. momof3boysj

    all of the above. 😉

  3. Men in pantaloons! Need I say more?? 😉

  4. I love the idea of having the prettiest dresses! Then the added bonus would be someone else to do all the cooking and cleaning!

  5. Wow! Great minds think alike, my 10 reasons fit hers almost perfectly! I would put the nooky and horses before corsets though. Riding the castle grounds in a beautiful habit with a hunk in tight clothes, a cravat and shinning hessians…sigh. would definitely have to make sure to loose the chaperone and find a nice place for some afternoon delight!

Gorgeous dresses and the amazing gardens!!!!!

I would love to have no worries for a week. Not worry about bills or cooking or cleaning or responsibilities. I would be pampered. Have all my needs catered to. Do whatever i want, whenever i want. It would be great to be taken care of for a week.

Tough choice. All would be great. I would have to say top two would be the ladies maid and having them help me do my hair and look beautiful and all those gorgeous clothes. Then would have to choose the parties and dancing.

  9. Definitely #7! The men are always HOT and randy!😉😘

As all of those reasons sound amazing I would have to say that a castle I don’t have to clean and a live in cook would be my top choices!

I wouldn’t want a castle because they’re so cold. But one of those lovely country houses would be grand. 🙂

  11. What a great list! Definitely a maid to do my hair every day- I have a lot of hair but am hopeless with doing anything with it

Ooh – a lady’s maid to do my hair. That’d make my life so much easier! 🙂

  13. Clothes, clothes, and more clothes!!

I don’t think a lady would be cleaning the cat’s litter box. Once that thought came into my mind, I couldn’t get it out.

  15. Granny Teresa

I would have to go with the carriage ride like cinderella

My favorite part would be “bumping into” Mr. Darcy. Accidentally, of course.

  17. First of all, I must say this is a great series. I’m currently reading THE STUDY OF SEDUCTION and the banter and heat between Edwin and Clarissa is off the charts. I’m loving it Ms. Jeffries! No, I wouldn’t be able to live in their world, but a week would be grand. No cooking or cleaning for me. Sleeping till noon, dancing all night, riding in carriages and phaetons. I’m in – when do we leave? Oh, least I forget, those wonderful boots and tight breeches.

I love the way I could dress up fancy and ride in a beautiful carriage!

  19. The dresses, at a ball, dancing, and a beautiful fan.
