As any voracious reader knows, there are so many books out there, it can be hard to choose just what to read next. So what could be better than a hand-picked recommendation from someone in the know? Every Wednesday the XOXOAD team likes to find out what some of its favorite authors are reading. This week, we’ve asked New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton what she recommends. And while you’re picking up her favorite reads, don’t forget to pre-order your copy of NUTS, Alice’s first book in the brand new Hudson Valley Series, today!
I am a reader first, writer second. It’s always been this way, and will likely remain the same for the foreseeable future. Even in the busiest of times, the craziest of deadline weeks, I’ll still read at least 1-2 books a week. Sustained, by Emma Chase.
I love my girl Emma, and while I’ve loved all of her books, this one is my new favorite. Jake Becker is….mmm. He just is. SUSTAINED made me blush, made me cry, made me mad, hit all the sweet spots.
Truly, by Ruthie Knox
Ruthie Knox is, in my opinion, one of the finest contemporary romance writers out there today. She’s my hands down favorite. She can do no wrong. Why in the world I didn’t read this one sooner is beyond me. It’s sexy, it’s sweet, it’s features one of my favorite cities in the entire world (New York City) it’s just beyond incredible. When I grow up, I want to write like Ruthie Knox.
The Stand, by Stephen King
I reread this book every single summer, and this summer was no different. I’ve been rereading this book for at least twenty years now, and I still find something new each time. This is my gateway King book, the one I recommend to anyone who has never read this author. Which is hard to believe there are still some of those people out there actually….
