What I’m Reading: Alice Clayton

As any voracious reader knows, there are so many books out there, it can be hard to choose just what to read next. So what could be better than a hand-picked recommendation from someone in the know? Every Wednesday the XOXOAD team likes to find out what some of its favorite authors are reading. This week, we’ve asked New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton what she recommends. And while you’re picking up her favorite reads, don’t forget to pre-order your copy of NUTS, Alice’s first book in the brand new Hudson Valley Series, today!

I am a reader first, writer second. It’s always been this way, and will likely remain the same for the foreseeable future. Even in the busiest of times, the craziest of deadline weeks, I’ll still read at least 1-2 books a week. It’s my go to, it’s my happy place, it’s what I do every single night before I head off to the sleeps. Here’s what I’ve been enjoying lately.

Sustained, by Emma Chase.
I love my girl Emma, and while I’ve loved all of her books, this one is my new favorite. Jake Becker is….mmm. He just is. SUSTAINED made me blush, made me cry, made me mad, hit all the sweet spots.

Truly, by Ruthie Knox
Ruthie Knox is, in my opinion, one of the finest contemporary romance writers out there today. She’s my hands down favorite. She can do no wrong. Why in the world I didn’t read this one sooner is beyond me. It’s sexy, it’s sweet, it’s features one of my favorite cities in the entire world (New York City) it’s just beyond incredible. When I grow up, I want to write like Ruthie Knox.

The Stand, by Stephen King
I reread this book every single summer, and this summer was no different. I’ve been rereading this book for at least twenty years now, and I still find something new each time. This is my gateway King book, the one I recommend to anyone who has never read this author. Which is hard to believe there are still some of those people out there actually….

Happy reading!

Alice Clayton

When you want a sexy and hilarious read, turn to Alice Clayton! Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.

Emma Chase

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight. When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand. Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be. -

RITA finalist and New York Times bestselling author Ruthie Knox kicks off a steamy new series set in the city that never sleeps—alone, at least.

My Dad loved Stephen King books! I’ve added the Nuts to my Amazon wish list.

  4. Loved Sustained, and I’m going to look into the other two. I’m trying to make my way through all of King’s books, so The Stand would be great to read next!
