As any voracious reader knows, there are so many books out there, it can be hard to choose just what to read next. So what could be better than a hand-picked recommendation from someone in the know? Every Wednesday the XOXOAD team likes to find out what some of its favorite authors are reading; today we’ve asked J.S. Cooper, author of Illusion and The Ex Games series, to tell us!

There is nothing better than reading a good book. I love books that make me laugh, that are full of romance, full of suspense and keep me reading until my eyes can’t stay open any longer. I like to relax in the bath after a long day and just read, read, read.

I just finished reading If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon. He was one of my all-time favorite authors and he knew how to write a good romantic suspense novel like no other. If Tomorrow Comes is one of those books that is full of so many twists and turns that each page turn is done with your breath held and your eyes eagerly latching onto and reading the next page, to ensure that you don’t miss anything.

Another suspense book on my nightstand is The Marathon Man by William Goldman. I was recently told by a few writers that this was the book to read to see how to write a good thriller. I’m still at the beginning, but already I’m caught up in the story.

My first love and second loves in book genres are romance and chick lit. I also just finished reading Priceless by Raine Miller and I absolutely loved it. The romance and heat made me blush and the mystery had me eager to know more. Added to that the book was set in my hometown of London and there is an art element that had me clapping my hands with glee. This was a book I could not put down and I can’t wait for book two.

With that being said, the next book on my list to read is Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic to The Stars. I consider Kinsella the Queen of Chick Lit and I absolutely love the spend-crazy Becky Bloomwood and all of her crazy antics. Becky is one of those infuriating characters that you can’t help but love and laugh with as she goes through life making dubious decisions, you can’t help but root for her and her husband Luke. Sophie Kinsella is my go to for romance that leaves me laughing out loud.
