As any voracious reader knows, there are so many books out there, it can be hard to choose just what to read next. So what could be better than a hand-picked recommendation from someone in the know? Every Wednesday the XOXOAD team likes to find out what some of its favorite authors are reading.

Today we’re thrilled to welcome author Anna Todd to share her favorite picks of the moment!  Anna’s After series became an internet sensation on the Wattpad platform and amassed over 1 billion reads. Starting this Fall, a revised and expanded version based on that original Wattpad fanfiction will be published by our friends at Gallery books in four parts: After (10/21/14), After We Collided (11/18/14), After We Fell (12/30/14), and After Ever Happy (2/10/14).

So, while you’re waiting for those to arrive, check out what other books Anna recommends, and then leave some recommendations of your own in our Comments section below!

Hey guys!! I am so excited to share what I’m reading with you! It was so hard to pick just one or two books, because I read and reread my favorites constantly! For this post though, since I’m forced to choose, (literally forced against my will—hah :P) I am going to tell you about the most heart-wrenching series I have ever made it through.

The Tristan & Danika series by R.K Lilley is the most painful series that I have ever had the pleasure to read. It hurt me in ways that I didn’t know a book could, and it made me fall desperately in love with a charming bad boy named Tristan Vega. Tristan is my favorite adult male character ever written, and each time I reread these books I fall harder for him.

He’s charming, tattooed, silly, and challenging—and makes the best chocolate chip cookies. By the third page after meeting him, you’ll be swooning and sighing and in need of chocolate yourself. Danika is strong, mouthy, and equally as charming. She’s so relatable and so easy to love. While watching their friendship bloom into something more, you will feel their love, their pain, and their passion for one another. The chemistry between them oozes from each page. You’ll be panting from the sexiness and crying from the twists while reading this tragic love story.

Blurb for Book One: Bad Things:

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given. She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

I highly recommend this series, R.K. Lilley is a magical creature disguised as an amazing author, and she has the power to make you cry and laugh at the same time. You should read everything else she’s ever written as well—I am!

And since I couldn’t just stop at one, another favorite of mine is Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren. This twosome created Ansel, the sexy French man with boyish charm. This book is the perfect mix of sweet & Fifty. 😉

And while I’m on the topic, I have to also recommend Sublime, Christina Lauren’s debut YA novel, since I personally love YA too. With just enough sexual tension to get the women going, this story has an ending that will floor you.

So that’s what I’ve been up to during my reading hours. I hope you all have been reading some other great books—I’d love to hear what some of them are in the Comments section below!
