It’s Urban Fantasy Week here at XOXO After Dark – and we’re starting it off with a bang. No, we’re not fighting monsters like our heroines do. We’re still fairly mortal, non-mega-kick-ass-able editors after all. Rather, our celebration gets underway today with New York Times bestseller Lynn Viehl’s 50th (FIFTIETH, people!) book, Disenchanted & Co., Part I: Her Ladyship’s Curse. It’s the first in a new historical urban fantasy / steampunk series, features the alternate-reality America heroine Kit, and it will be followed in October by Disenchanted & Co., Part II: His Lordship Possessed. (For full descriptions of these titles, check out the buy links below this post.)

We’ll hear from Ms. Viehl later in the week, but big kudos to her on her publication day – she’s a true legend in the romance genre!

To further get this genre party started right, we also have – FREE OF CHARGE! – the classic beginning to Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series, Spider’s Bite. Meet Gin (yes, like the liquor). She kills people (bad people, though). And she’s an elemental (Stone and Ice, to be more specific). To read this exciting Book #1 in a series that will have 10 (TEN!) novels and 3 novellas out by the end of 2013 (since we know some of you love looooong series), go to the Free Reads page and get cracking! It’ll only be up for 30 days, so don’t delay.

Towards the end of the week, we’ll also get a sneak peak of Delilah S. Dawson’s Damsel and the Daggerman, a forthcoming eNovella that introduces Demi, the heroine in her third Blud novel, Wicked After Midnight.

So stay tuned here. And if you are an ultra-urban-fantasy-partier, and want to kick it up a notch, check out some of our other fine authors in the meanwhile, including:

Jenn Bennett, Jenna Black, Michael R. Underwood, Adrian Phoenix, Jamie Quaid, Gina X. Grant, Allison Pang, Jesse Petersen, MLN Hanover, Linda Robertson, J.F. Lewis, Diana Pharaoh Francis, Jeff Somers

Happy reading (and monster fighting)!!!
